Joy Davis & JB Wilhelm
JB Wilhelm is a true believer in the American Cancer Society's slogan: "Save lives, fulfill yours.” Fueled by her late father’s brave fight against glioblastoma in 2007, she is passionate about raising money and awareness that both support cancer research and provide services for those currently undergoing cancer treatments. Last year, when both of her daughters chose to attend out-of-state colleges, JB knew it was time to devote herself to moving the needle towards finding a cure and to inspiring others to do the same. She proudly partnered with her childhood friend Joy (they both grew up in the Mississippi Delta) as Co-Chair of Cal Spirit. When she is not working with Joy to make this year's Cal Spirit more successful than ever, JB works as an associate producer with Peak XV Global Events, serves as a jury consultant with Trial Innovations, and plays tennis with her husband.
Joy Davis was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer on Valentine’s Day 2002 when she was nearly 8 months pregnant with her son Clayton. Her husband, Roger was her primary caregiver during the grueling 18 months of treatment, including surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. “We could not have survived this diagnosis without the research of the American Cancer Society,” said Roger. “We are involved because we want others to have a successful treatment, too. Cancer is beatable, but it takes a continued effort, with contributions from supporters like our friends at Cal Spirit. This is personal for Joy and me, and we are happy to be part of this event.” Hear their story in their own words:
